For the longest I’ve put off making my blog. Honestly unsure about topics to talk about. Could I even get a audience. Mostly if I could have a blog worth monetizing.

I truly was over thinking it. It’s been so therapeutic and it’s helped get a lot of creative juices flowing, for future topics and ideas.

I’ll first give you a quick back story on why I initially started blogging.

I initially made my blog as a hobby because I had so much free time. With being laid off from the COVID 19 impact, I felt I needed an outlet to be free. Also a new hobby and a way to bring in extra cash.

And that’s where blogging really benefited me! I had something to do in my free time and an opportunity to make money.

If you market yourself correctly, blogging can helps you reach millions of people that use the internet on the daily. It allows you to be found frequently, especially if your posting about blog on different platforms. (Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest to name a few)

A way to market yourself is by joining Facebook groups, of your potential clients. Once accepted you can show your expertise and earn their trust by being of value. Answering their question and being helpful, They will greatly appreciate that leading them to reach out to you. 

Not only that, but blogging can also help if your a business owner, and looking to get the word out about your products. It will also allow you to connect and have a one-on-one with your customers, build personal relationships!

2.) You Report To You

The best part about having your own blog is your the boss! You make the hours, which means your schedule is based on your need instead someone else’s.

You pick the clients, meaning you have final say on the type of clients you choose to approach and do business with. Lastly but not least you determine how you reward yourself and how often. That could be:

• A Spa Day 
• Lunch or Dinner
• A Chill Day

However you want to treat yourself, your free to!

• Sponsored Blog Post

And many other ways!

Your can set up affiliate programs/links on your website. Which essentially is you getting a paid commission or percentage or something, if your audience chooses to buy through you affiliate link. (Completely free for you audience.)

Further more another opportunity is: blogging can help you reach and help other entrepreneurs.  You can help business owners, by offering your skills. That could be

• Book Keeping

You can get creative and use your talents to be of help to others, looking to elevate their businesses!

 When I first started blogging, I never thought I would have the confidence to approach potential clients as I do now. As a result blogging as helped me step out of my comfort zone in so many ways. Most importantly since starting my blog I have been able to:

• Think Outside The Box, Expanding My Knowledge On Topics I’m Writing About
• Organize My Thoughts
• Develop And Put My Skills To Good Use                                           

It’s also giving me a chance to see my own personal growth! Seeing how far I’ve come over time, far as the way I write, my opinions, and my consistency!

When working Freelance building your portfolio, is a must. And blogging is the perfect approach!

Every time you post a new blog, you should be adding that to your portfolio. If you don’t have a website yet, you can use services like LinkedIn to showcase you portfolio. 

As your looking to build your portfolio, don’t be afraid to do a free gig to help build your portfolio and get a recommendation based on word of mouth. Therefore that free gig may just be the one to build up your clientele. 

For instance I personally started with a case study of my own growth. Via my website, Pinterest, and emails. With having a case study it appeals to future clients, because they’re able to see how you grew your own accounts.
